2014 Person of the Year

The Seymour Area Chamber of Commerce was happy to present the 2014 Person of the Year Award to Seymour resident and businessman Ted Esch. The award was presented at the 11th Annual Chamber Banquet & Membership Meeting held at Valley Grove Baptist Church on March 14.
Ted Esch currently serves as Chairman of the Board for SVFD. He has been with the department in many capacities since the early 1970′s. He has served as Firefighter II, several Fire Officer positions, and as the Fire Chief. He serves on the executive committee, ensuring fiscal responsibility and helps to maintain the excellence that SVFD is known for. He has been a member of Sevier County Fire Chiefs Association, and the East Tennessee Regional Fire Chiefs Association.
Ted’s professional accomplishments include serving on the Seymour Planning Commission, a seat on the Board of Directors with Fort Sanders/Sevier Hospital, President, and certified member of Data Processing Management Association. He has offered leadership to the community of Seymour for many years. Ted owns and operates Knoxville Computer Corporation in Seymour.
Ted was born in Paducah, KY, 1943. He graduated high school in 1961, Dyersburg, TN. He attended University of Tennessee from 1961-1963. He married Billie Jean Davis in 1963 and they have two sons, Rusty and Robby. Ted’s dedication to South Knoxville and Seymour began in 1963 when he established residency and continues through today. He is a member of Church Street United Methodist Church. In 1996, he had the privilege of being a Torch Bearer for the Olympic relay. In his spare time he enjoys photography and spending time with his family.
